Let’s do some simple, but awesome, science! This chemical reaction is safe for all ages and materials are easy to come by. 

 For this activity you will need the following items:

• A tray (tin, pie pan, glass dish, or anything with a lip)
• An empty spray bottle or turkey baster
• Vinegar
• Baking Soda
• Kool-Aid 
• Glitter (for some added fun)
• Some sort of safety glasses. You’d hate to get vinegar in your eyes! 

 Now here’s what you do:

1. Spread Kool-Aid (and glitter) over the bottom of the pan
2. Spread a layer of baking soda over the Kool-Aid
3. Put vinegar in a spray bottle or turkey baster
4. Now- before you do the experiment, let’s ask the kiddos some questions…
   1. What do you smell? Where have you smelled it before?
   2. What do you see? What does it look like?
   3. What do you think will happen when we spray the vinegar on the baking soda?
   4. Write down their answers to refer to later.
5. Let them spray the vinegar on the baking soda. 
6. More questions!
   1. What do you see? 
   2. What do you smell?
   3. Did you think this would happen?
