All About Me

Here’s a quiet indoor activity. This art activity needs minimal help from you and can keep the kiddos busy for a while. 

For this activity you will need the following items:

  • Piece of paper your child can lay on
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Crayons, markers, paint, etc…
  • Yarn, glitter, stickers, etc…

Now here’s what you do:

  1. Have your child lay on the paper. They can lay flat or make a funny pose.
  2. Trace your child’s body.
  3. Have them color and decorate! 
  4. Ask questions! (Below)

Simple, right? Let’s give them some more direction. You can ask them the following questions before they start:

  1. What do you want to be when you grow up? Can you draw that on your body?
  2. How do you feel today? What colors and shapes would you use and draw to show how you feel?
  3. Can you use the materials to make your outline look like you today? 
  4. Once they are complete ask them about their art. Ask them specifics about what they used and why they used certain materials. 

*Don’t have a piece of paper big enough? Here are some alternative options:

  • Use a piece of cardboard
  • Only trace their shoulders and up
  • Use paper grocery bags 
  • Use the back of old wrapping paper
  • Go outside and draw a line with chalk

Thank You Cards

Project #1 is a fun and easy way to show someone how much we appreciate them.

Let’s thank all the brave workers and helpful people who have not stopped during these serious times to make sure we have all that we need to stay safe and healthy. Who are people you think need to be thanked? Here are some people we have noticed: doctors, nurses, police officers, EMTs, grocery store employees, restaurant employees, etc.

For this activity you will need the following items:

  • Heavy piece of white paper
  • A white crayon
  • Water Color

Now here’s what you do:

  1. Fold the piece of paper in half
  2. Write “Thanks” or “Thank You” on the front of the card with white crayon. You may need to look at it from a different angle to see where you have drawn.
  3. Use watercolor to paint over the front page. 
  4. Did you see your words appear?
  5. Write a “thank you” message inside the card

For this activity you will need the following items:

  • Heavy piece of white paper
  • A black marker
  • Paint
  • A straw

Now here’s what you do:

  1. Fold the piece of paper in half
  2. Dip one end of the straw in paint
  3. Blow hard with the straw close to the paper. Cool, huh?
  4. Use the paint bottle to squeeze a small amount of paint on the front of the paper. 
  5. Now use the straw to blow the paint around the front of the card. Pretty awesome, right?
  6. Wait for the paint to dry, then use a black marker to write “Thanks” or “Thank You” on the front. 
  7. Write a “thank you” message inside the card.

  • Macon County Sheriff
  • Decatur Fire Department
  • Kroger
