Cooking with your kiddo can be intimidating, but there are so many great skills and lessons to learn in the kitchen! Cooking uses tons of math and science… and maybe even a little art. Here is a recipe for mini personalized pancakes.
For this activity you will need the following items:
- ½ Cup of Flour
- 3 Eggs
- ½ Cup of Milk
- Berries, chocolate chips, cheese, etc…
- Butter or Oil
- Measuring Cups
- Large Bowl
- Large spoon to mix
- Muffin tin (can be mini or regular size)
Now here’s what you do:
- Preheat the oven to 425* F
- Show your child the Measuring Cups and explain what the numbers mean on them. Yup- math is super important if you want to cook!
- Help them measure ½ Cup of flour and pour into bowl
- Show them how to crack an egg and let them try! Hey, they gotta learn some day!
- *If you’re nervous about shells in the pancakes, have them crack the eggs in a separate bowl.
- Help them measure ½ Cup of milk. Go ahead and let them pour it.
- Show them how to mix with the large spoon and let them take over! Make sure all the ingredients are combined.
- Spray or butter the muffin tin.
- Help them pour batter into each of the sections.
- Once all of them are filled, let them add berries, chocolate, cheese, etc… to the batter.
- Bake them for 12-15 minutes.
- Let cool and enjoy!
