Tired of using paint brushes? Well here is a fun and easy art activity that you and your child can do! You will need:
- A toilet paper roll
- Scissors (Safety scissors preferred)
- Paper
- Paint
- Plate
Time to create a firework show in your own house!
- First, make sure you use a toilet paper roll when you are done using all of the toilet paper! (We don’t want to waste the toilet paper)
- Once you have your roll, it’s time to start cutting! Cut one to one-and-a-half inches down one end of the roll. Rotate the roll a small bit and do it again. Do so all the way around until you can flatten the roll end into what appears to be a burst shape (see pics).
- Once you have the roll cut to your liking, separate the paint you will be using into however many different plates to separate colors.
- For a fun look, encourage putting more than one color in one plate.
- Dip your roll, cut side down, and stamp it onto your piece of paper. It will resemble a firework!
- Create as many fireworks for your own inside firework show!
For further discussion with your child, if you mixed colors, talk about how two colors together made a different color! You can even start the discussion on how fireworks work in real life.
Don’t forget to share your work with us any time you want!
