Exhibit Maintenance
Reports to VP of Museum Experiences
Status: Part-time
Compensation: $14/hour
Time: 10-15 hours per week (weekday flexibility)

Position Summary:
The Exhibit Technician is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of museum exhibits. This position requires daily, weekly, and monthly servicing tasks to various exhibits. It often involves working on upgrade kits that will be used to improve various exhibits. The individual will also serve as point person during new exhibit installations. A sampling of daily tasks might include gluing/screwing a small exhibit item, cleaning model train track, installing cabinet locks, or cutting boards on a miter saw for a small project or temporary barricade.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Ensure that all exhibits are in operational condition.
● Shall perform exhibit maintenance and upgrade kits.
● Shall assist with elements of long-term projects.
● Shall assist with seasonal grounds keeping and exterior upgrades.
Qualifications:
1 year or 2 semesters working in a professional shop setting. Vocational ability in either related previous employment or self-interest.
● Must be able to follow all local, State, and National safety standards.
● Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools.
● Must be able to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
● Must be able to work around children and adults of different abilities and ethnic and social backgrounds.
● Must be able to deduce quickly and adjust to unexpected occurrences in a timely and professional way.
● Must be able to collaborate with a variety of designers, contractors, and volunteers.
● Must be able to problem solve in creative ways.
● Must be able to bend, lift, and be on feet for extended periods of time
● Must have reliable transportation

Occasionally lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as furniture, file cabinets, equipment, boxes, etc. may be required. Work will require some weekends and/or evenings.
